چکیده

Abstract Introduction We assessed whether expert mentoring improved the rate of uptake robotic surgical skill and general advanced psychomotor ability (PMA), specific video-game experience (VGE) had any impact on skill. Method Twenty robotically naive medical students were blinded randomised to two cohorts; control (CC) intervention (IC). Each student's initial performance a variety da Vinci Skills Simulator (dVSSim) exercises was measured then reassessed following an independent practice or mentor guided session Outcome metrics overall score, time completion, economy motion master workspace range. Quantitative, questionnaire data collected evaluate relationship between skill, PMA VGE. Statistical analysis performed with SPSS software utilising t-test. Result On average, score for CC by 16.8% compared 43.3% IC (p=0.04). Time completion 26.2% vs. 40% (IC), 16.5% 25% range 8% 11%. correlated better performances all metrics, especially (p=0.003) (p=0.03). Students more VGE scores that average 20% than those little no this also seen Conclusion Expert leads greater improvement in alone. Advanced correlates innate as does VGE, but lesser extent.
